Petit a petit l'oiseau fait son nid...

I don't know if that  old french proverb exists in English...What would be the translation?
Little by little a bird makes her nest?

By the way, I just learnt that
petit andropogon can be translated by little bluestem
which, I'm sure, will be usefull someday.
